Focus On... How to Stay Active at Home

June 2020

The past few months have brought no shortage of “lounging around” days while social distancing. Therefore, it is very important for your body to adapt new routines during this time. While you are staying safe at home, it is also critical to stay active. Exercising is an excellent mood booster and vital for your mental and physical well being.

Below are 5 tips on how to stay active while you’re home.

  1. Count Your Steps
Even if it is just walking around the house. Every step is important. No matter which way you put it, you’re still burning calories.
  2. Clean Your House
Cleaning your home or apartment regularly is another way to ensure that you stay active during the week. Vacuuming, mopping back and forth or using your arms to wipe a table down are all physical activities that keep your heart rate up.
  3. Cooking at Home
You would be surprised that this helps you burn calories! Preparing food at home certainly burns more calories — and usually causes you to consume fewer calories than eating out or ordering in.
  4. Exercising While Watching TV
Try doing some quick exercises while watching a show. Whether it’s push-ups, sit-ups or jumping jacks. You will not regret it.
  5. Online Exercise
There are many free online resources you can choose from ranging anywhere between 10 to 60 minutes and for all fitness levels. If you want to research a tutorial for a specific exercise or a quick 10-minute routine, they are available too!
