In recognition of the new partnership between Pfizer's calcium supplement brand Caltrate® and actress Dana Delany, Focus On takes a look at osteoporosis, a disease affecting bone tissue. According to the Mayo Clinic, osteoporosis, meaning "porous bones," causes bones to become weak and brittle, commonly resulting in bone fractures.

A report by the Surgeon General shows that today, an estimated 50 million adults over the age of 50 suffer from osteoporosis and low bone mass, with this number expected to rise above 60 million by the year 2020. It is never too early or late to focus on bone health; the following links contain valuable information relating to your personal bone health.
